Rumbidzai Matambo

PARTNER AND HEAD CONVEYANCING AND SECURITISATION

Rumbidzai Matambo is the Managing Partner of DMH and heads the Firm's Conveyancing and Securitisation Group. She was one of the first two women to be invited into the partnership in 2007, after serving three years as a professional assistant in the Firm's then Corporate and Financial Services Unit. Rumbidzai has 22 years' experience in commercial law, conveyancing, securitisation, secured lending, property law and notarial practice. She has extensive experience advising financial institutions, multilateral lenders, insurance companies and leading corporate and industrial entities on complex lending, property, and real estate transactions.

Her practice includes structuring, preparing, perfecting, and registering security packages, mortgage registrations, land acquisitions, subdivisions, leases, property development and notarial instruments. She forms part of the team advising the biggest player in trade finance transactions in the country and other regional multilateral financial institutions on local law matters and security arrangements for lending transactions in Zimbabwe. Rumbidzai also has significant experience in group and debt restructurings, corporate reconstructions, listings, rights issues, and private placements.

She has held several senior leadership positions within the legal profession, including serving as President of the Law Society of Zimbabwe from February 2023 to January 2025. At regional level, Rumbidzai served as a member of the Executive Committee of the SADC Lawyers' Association from August 2024 to June 2026, contributing to regional legal and professional initiatives and representing the interests of the legal profession within the SADC region. She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chairperson of FBC Reinsurance Limited, where she contributes her extensive legal, governance and commercial experience to board oversight, strategic decision-making, corporate governance, and risk management
